Which RAW Cones Should We Get for Our Shop? We get this question a lot, and for good reason.
RAW has one of the biggest cone lineups out there, and once you get past the basics, the options add up quickly. Different sizes, different paper types, different packaging formats. Plenty to choose from, and plenty to sort through if you’re deciding what belongs on your shelves.
The easiest way to break it down is by size, paper type, and packaging.
Size
For most shops, the core sizes are 1¼, 98 Special, Lean, and King Size.
These are the sizes most shops rely on. They’re familiar, they sell consistently, and they make up the backbone of a strong cone selection. If you’re deciding where to start, start here.
Then the lineup gets larger with the specialty sizes: Peacemaker, Emperador, Supernatural, and Challenge.
Peacemaker is roughly 30% larger than a King Size cone. Then comes Emperador at around 7 inches, Supernatural at about 12 inches, and Challenge at a full 24 inches.
By the time you get to Challenge, you’re looking at a giant cone.
That size is obviously not for everyone, but that is exactly why it works. These larger cones bring personality to the shelf. They catch attention, they get people talking, and every now and then, they are exactly what someone came in hoping to find.
Paper Type
RAW’s lineup comes in Classic, Organic Hemp, Black Classic, Black Organic Hemp, and Ethereal.
The simplest way to think about the paper options is thickness. In our books, the lineup runs from more standard paper to ultra-thin paper.
Classic and Organic Hemp sit closer to the standard end. Black Classic and Black Organic Hemp are thinner. Ethereal is the thinnest of the group.
At first, that can sound like a small difference. Then someone finds the paper they like, and it becomes the one they keep coming back for. That is usually how it goes with cones. Once customers know what they prefer, they tend to stick with it.
Packaging
Most RAW Cones are sold in retail packs, usually with 3 to 20 cones per pack. These are the packs shops stock on the shelf and sell directly to customers.
For standard sizes like 1¼ and King Size, RAW also offers 75-count boxes, which sit between retail packs and full bulk.
Then there are bulk RAW cones, usually packed with 800 to 1400 loose cones per box. These are typically bought by dispensaries and manufacturers making pre-rolls. If you’re looking for bulk King Size cones, bulk 1¼ cones, bulk 98 Special cones, or bulk Lean cones, this is the format you’re looking at.
It is a different kind of purchase, built around quantity rather than retail presentation.
So, Which Ones Should You Carry?
For most shops, start with the standards: 1¼, 98 Special, Lean, and King Size.
From there, build out paper types based on how much range you want to offer. Classic and Organic Hemp are the natural foundation. Black and Ethereal give you thinner options for customers who want them.
For packaging, retail packs are the everyday shelf format. 75-count boxes make sense for proven standard sizes. Bulk RAW cones are usually the move for pre-roll production.
The specialty sizes come after that.
Not because they do not matter, but because the standard sizes do most of the work. The larger ones do something else. They make the shelf more memorable, and sometimes that is exactly what gets someone to stop, take a look, and buy.
